SUMMARY
Recently, the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation (also referred to as the ‘Singapore Convention’) was opened for signature in Singapore, and more than fifty nations (including India) have signed the convention. The article discusses the need for the Singapore Convention, the position of mediation in India, and the way forward now that India has signed the Singapore Convention.
