In this intermittent series, we may, from time to time, share our ideas, representations, and reasoned appeals to Governments, institutions, and civil society—rooted in principles of non-violence, constructive dialogue, and bridge-building, and articulated in a manner that remains fully consistent with our professional responsibilities. Hope you find this meaningful. While we welcome thoughtful reflection, we may not be able to engage individually with comments or questions arising from this series.

Before Violence Becomes Our Only Language

Happy New Year 2026

The cries of humanity are growing louder. Everywhere we look, violence is answering violence, and hate is deepening the very divides it claims to defend. History has taught us this lesson repeatedly, yet we seem condemned to relearn it at great cost. It is time to pause and ask ourselves a harder question: what would it take to cleanse our hands of conflict and replace it with unity?

Across civilizations and centuries, the true prophets of peace have spoken in different languages but carried the same message. From the Sikhs and the Sufis to Kabir and Krishna, from Jesus and Moses to Zarathustra, their teachings were never about domination or fear. They were about love, restraint, forgiveness, and the courage to see humanity before identity. Their light was never meant to be owned by any one religion; it was meant to illuminate all of us.

As we step into a new year, perhaps the most radical act is not resistance, but restraint. Not aggression, but compassion. We must make a conscious vow to lay down the language of fear, to stop glorifying violence as strength, and to recognise that love is not weakness—it is responsibility. Let compassion be our shared mission, and conscience our guiding force.

The future will not be built by walls, but by bridges. Not by enmity, but by trust patiently earned. Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Zoroastrian, Sikh—every faith, at its core, dreams the same dream: a world where dignity is protected, life is sacred, and peace is possible.

If we allow compassion to lead, we can still shape a world where our children inherit understanding instead of hatred, hope instead of war. That choice remains ours.

As the year turns, let us rise above old narratives. Let us spread peace deliberately, celebrate life consciously, and choose to be the light this world so desperately needs.
