Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 – New Rules for India’s Connected Billion

SESSION: 08:30 AM – 10:00 AM (PT)

In mid-2018, a committee appointed by the Government of India submitted its report on protecting privacy in India along with a draft Personal Data Protection Bill, 2018. After multiple consultations with stakeholders since then, the government introduced a significantly revised version of the proposed law before the Indian Parliament on December 11, 2019 – the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019. Changes to the proposed law have far-reaching consequences for businesses operating or collecting personal data in India. There appears to be legislative momentum to enact this impactful law some time in 2020. In this webinar, our experts discuss important provisions of the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 and how these changes could impact your business in India.
