Introduction

Ranil Salgado, The head of the IMF (International Monetary Fund) for India, describes the Indian economy as an Elephant that has started to run. India is expected to maintain a steady growth rate of 7.3% in 2019-2020 (Moody’s report titled Global Macro Outlook 2019-20), and is considered a strong contender amongst the the emerging South Asia economies.

Tagging India as one of the fastest growing countries, World Bank has estimated that global GDP growth to be at 3.1% in 2018. A comparative view of the growth rates clearly demarcates India as a viable destination for increasing the exposure and making fresh investment. This is also evident in the performance of Indian indices; in CY2018 Indian markets outperformed most developed and emerging economies.

Indian market performance and easier regulations has boosted foreign investors interest in India. 2018 witnessed over 600 Foreign Portfolio Registrations steepest rise since the introduction of the regime in 2014. There is a growing appetite of foreign investors for India dedicated funds managed by Indian Asset Management firms. As Indian managers with on-ground presence have access to information and provide bottom-up stock ideas.

To cater to this client segment, many Indian Asset Managers are setting up offshore fund structures for pooling investor funds. Amongst these global investment fund centers Luxembourg and Ireland, as funds can be routed throughout the EU and marketed to all EU investors.

Keeping this in view Nishith Desai and Associates and SS&C Globe Op present the “Masterclass and Panel discussion addressing all the issues relating to fund structures in Ireland and Luxembourg.

We also look forward to welcoming representatives from the Irish Government amongst our midst, during the cocktail hour.
